It's April which means only one thing...baseball is back! Here are some facts and tidbits on the great American pastime. 

Did you know that...

  • The Seattle Mariners have the most single season wins with 116 in 2001, but no World Series appearances ever.
  • The Washington Nationals, formerly known as the the Montreal Expos, have never been in the World Series either.
  • Stan Musial had 3630 hits: 1815 at home and 1815 on the road.
  • Willie Mays had 7092 outfield put outs.
  • Ernie Banks and Harmon Killebrew were never ejected from a game in their 41 combined years.
  • Manager Bobby Cox was ejected 158 times.
  • Jim Palmer pitched 3,947 innings without allowing a grand slam.
  • Craig Biggio was hit by 285 pitches.
  • Ricky Henderson walked 2,558 times and scored 2,295 times.
  • A-Rod has hit 23 grand slams.
  • The 1968 St.Louis Cardinals had 30 shutouts- Bob Gibson threw 13 of them
  • Jamie Moyer is the oldest pitcher to win an MLB game at the age of 49.

  • When it comes to the Cubs/Cardinals rivalry, the Cubbies hold the edge with 1,190 wins to 1,138 wins.
