Rainy Day "Blues"

Even though the weather has been less than stellar lately, we are staying positive by brightening up our showroom. No, we are not talking about the remodel (although the new upgrades are going to look very sharp!). In this case, we are talking about the bright blue Silverado 1500 that is now on display.

This Blue Topaz Silverado gives a positive spin to the "blues" and is definitely eye catching. Avoid the weather and come see this unique truck before it is gone!

A Fundraiser For Autism

Scott and Ted's 7th Annual Car Show was comprised of months of planning, numerous volunteers, a swarm of participants, a steady flow of spectators, a little bit of glitter paint and one very special boy, Tyler Auten. This year’s event produced a near record turnout of over 215 vehicles- more than doubling last year’s show. Spectators were able to see a wide range of classic cars, trucks, motorcycles, and street rods dating back to the early 1920’s. Every vehicle had a unique appeal and, most importantly, a great background story. This year’s show was comprised of 10 classes, with awards presented to the top-3 finishers as well as Best in Show and Furthest Distance traveled. Aside from the automotive displays event goers were also able to enjoy lunch from Ted’s Garage, get their faces painted by the Zoo Lady, race electric slot cars, and test their vehicle’s horsepower on the DYNO.

This year’s show was put together with a specific theme in mind: Autism Awareness. Every year the show serves as a fundraiser for a local organization or individual in need. The unanimous choice for this year’s beneficiary was Tyler Auten, a six-year-old boy from Bloomington who suffers from severe Autism. Tyler’s parents describe him as a "runner" which is very dangerous given his inability to communicate effectively with others.  In hopes of keeping Tyler safe, the Auten family is trying to raise $13,000 to purchase a service dog from 4 Paws For Ability. A highly trained service dog will keep track of Tyler at all times as well as help him cope with various side effects of his disease. Several months ago, the dealership donated a Buick Century to the Auten family to help with their fundraising efforts. It has since been turned into the “Art for Autism” car, allowing kids and adults the opportunity to write messages of support for a small donation. The Autens have spent the entire summer traveling to local car shows to raise money and generate awareness about Autism.

Thanks to all the participants, volunteers, and spectators, the show was able to donate over $2,700 to Tyler and his family. The proceeds have brought the Auten’s within reach of their goal. For more information about Tyler and how you can donate, please visit http://www.facebook.com/4PawsForTyler.

Again, a very special thank you goes out to everyone who participated, volunteered, or attended the show this past weekend! We hope to see you all again next year!
