Did You Know?!: Street Names

In the September edition of "Did You Know?!" Sales and Leasing Consultant, Tim H., takes a look at a few of the various street names in our area. What street do you live on?

---

Many streets set up years ago were named after trees or Presidents. For example, in the older parts of Maroa, Illinois the streets that run North and South are named after trees, while the streets that run East and West are named after Presidents. Here in Clinton, we have streets that are named after Presidents that run in all directions. They are as follows:

  • Adams
  • Grant
  • Jackson
  • Jefferson
  • Harrison
  • Johnson
  • Lincoln
  • Madison
  • Monroe
  • Reagan
  • Taft
  • Taylor
  • Van Buren
  • Washington
  • Wilson
That's a total of 15 different Presidents! However, there are even more streets named after trees. They are as follows:
  • Apple
  • Aspen
  • Beech
  • Birch
  • Burr
  • Oak
  • Cedar
  • Cherry
  • Chestnut
  • Cottonwood
  • Cypress
  • Elm
  • Hickory
  • Honey Tree
  • Maple
  • Mulberry
  • Oak
  • Olive
  • Red Bud
  • Sycamore
  • Walnut
  • White Oak
  • Willow
Final count- 23 streets named after trees! The city of Clinton also has streets named after directions:
  • South East Street
  • West South Street
  • East North Street

Did you know that there are still 30 Presidents that do not have streets named after them?

Stay tuned for next month's edition...

Congratulations!

We would like to extend a big congratulations to our Internet Manager, Laci M., whose daughter got married this past weekend. It was a beautiful wedding with great food, wonderful friends, and supportive family members. The newlyweds even drove away in a John Deere tractor to complete the evening. Congratulations to John and Christy!
