Even though it may have seemed like the dealership was experiencing a massive earthquake, it was only the demolition of our former meeting room. It was intense while it lasted, but we are pretty confident that we didn't tip the Richter scale. Again, we would like to thank all of our customers for their continued patience during the remodel. You guys are GREAT!

The Top 10 Reasons Remodeling Is FUN
#10. Although we have seen a picture of what the outside of the dealership will look like, we get to use our imaginations to try and envision what the finished design will actually look like on the inside.
-Where is HGTV's David Bromstad when you need him?
#9. The famous words of MC Hammer come to mind frequently...HAMMER TIME!
-Bet you just got "Can't Touch This" stuck in your head. Good luck getting it out of there.
#8. Using a sledge hammer is starting to look like an interesting and fun activity.
-To those who enjoy working out, this would be a great core exercise!
#7. We get to revisit our youth by playing games like musical offices and hide-n-seek.
#6. It has inspired (or forced...) us to do our Spring cleaning. Better late than never!
#5. The fresh, outdoorsy smell of new lumber.
#4. Between the jack-hammering and drilling we are all more alert during the day.
#3. HAMMER TIME!
-It really is a catchy song...
#2. For a short while we were reminded of what life was like before the Internet.
-Seriously, how did we survive?!
#1. The promise of a brand new dealership is awesome! Hello, face-lift!

Making A Difference
Scott and Ted's 7th Annual Car Show is approaching quickly! We are proud to announce that all of the money raised at this year's show will be donated to 4 Paws for Tyler Auten. Tyler's family is trying to raise $13,000 for an Autism service dog. Here is their story told by Tyler's mother, Dawn Auten:
"Tyler’s family has to raise money for Tyler to get a service dog. Tyler is Autistic, and because of his Autism, he is more than a handful at home and at school. It is nearly impossible to keep an eye on him 24/7. Tyler is, what we call in the Autism community, a 'runner'. He has, on many occasions, ran off and hid from both his family and his teachers at school.
This dog would not only keep Tyler safe, but it would help him in numerous other ways. Tyler goes days at a time without sleeping at times; the security of this trained dog will help him get the sleep he has been missing for the last 5 years. This dog will limit Tyler's autistic behaviors and help him communicate.
What We Need & What You Get
We have to raise $13,000 in order for Tyler to get this dog from the Organization 4 Paws for Ability. Every bit of the $13,000 goes to purchasing and training the dog for Tyler. Every penny counts, and anything you can do to help would be immensely appreciated. If you donate, we have some special perks to offer you!
The Impact
Autism is a severe developmental disorder that affects the way a child sees and interacts with the rest of the world. It effects sensory, memory, motor and postural control. Social and communication skills may be compromised leading to social isolation both within the family and with other people. Many autistic children, including Tyler, display a tendency to bolt in open spaces making going to a mall or a restaurant almost impossible. Many autistic children also experience difficulty sleeping.
Service dogs have been proven to be an asset for children diagnosed with autism and their families. These dogs provide a social "bridge" for children who are often secluded by others because of their behavior or lack of social interaction. These well-trained dogs can also provide comfort as well as calm children who suffer from autism. Autistic children who run away and hide can also be quickly and easily found by assistance dogs that are trained to locate them.
Other Ways You Can Help
If we can just reach out to 13,000 people to donate $1, then Tyler could get this service dog. PLEASE help us spread the word by sharing our page on Facebook and Twitter to help this adorable little boy!" (Source: http://www.indiegogo.com/servicedogfortyler)
**Please join us in the effort to help the Auten's reach their goal!**

Meet The Team: Dee Rutledge
Sales Associate, Dee Rutledge |
What's your new title here at Baum? I am a sales associate. I am taking Barb Rose's place as she enjoys her new path on retirement! Well, we are very glad to have a wonderful lady filling another wonderful ladies position! Thanks! I can't wait for all that's in store for me here with Baum.
What kinds of experience do you have in this field? I have worked many years with sales teams. I have wanted to be on the front line meeting and selling to the customer's that are purchasing vehicles and now I finally am!
We know you haven't been here long, but what's your favorite part about the job so far? The customers definitely. I am inspired and amused by the stories that they share. I love seeing the excitement in the customers when they purchase a new vehicle and that I get to share that with them! That is by far one of the most exciting things about this business. We love our happy customers!
Tell us about your roots? I grew up in Bloomington, IL then lived in the Champaign area for 30+ years. I have just recently moved to Clinton. I am the youngest of 6- 3 boys and 3 girls. My parents live in Heyworth and 2 brothers and a sister live in the Bloomington area, 1 sister lives by St. Louis, and my other brother lives in Louisiana. Sounds like you're pretty familiar with this area, but you also have a few good traveling spots to visit your siblings at!
What can we catch you doing in your spare time? I love the outdoors. Hiking and camping are a lot of fun! I also enjoy kayaking! I love smooth jazz and classic rock and roll, but I'll listen to most genres. I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I just love to laugh and smile! It sounds like you know how to live life to the fullest!
Share with everyone a favorite quote you like to live by. Let us complain less and give more! That is a very good quote to live by!
I've enjoyed introducing myself to all of you now come on in and introduce yourself to me at the Clinton location! It was wonderful speaking with you today Dee! Welcome to our team!

Experience Buick
Peyton Manning and Shaquille O'Neal are at our dealership to sell Buicks! Well, not literally...but we do have two life-size cardboard replicas of the famous athletes on display in honor of General Motors "Experience Buick" program. Since we are in the middle of a remodel, we haven't found a permanent home for the two superstars. However, they have been traveling to various parts of the dealership to visit with employees and provide a little extra motivation to get through the work day. They have even scared an employee and a couple customers (which is understandable considering how tall they actually are!).
The Sales team is really excited to have two celebrities on the floor to sell Buicks |
The Service department couldn't find much use for Peyton or Shaq since they were too tall to fit under most of the vehicles |
This just proves that "exciting" things do happen in Clinton, Illinois!
